CHARITIES HAVE A ROLE TO PLAY IN RURAL INDIA
As we traveled into interior villages of India we found that things are not as
they ought to be :
1. There exist mosques in many a villages having no Imam to lead in prayers,
preach & teach the faith of Islam. Muslim culture in such villages is
systematically regressing under the influence of the predominant culture of the
region.
WITH THE HELP OF IMAM SPONSORED BY AF, EVERY INHABITANT BECAME HIGHLY CONVERSANT
WITH ISLAM AS A WAY OF LIFE , BECAME RIGHTEOUS & STEADFAST IN PRAYERS.
2. A village created to rehabilitate a clan of nomadic tribe of 50 families (
all muslims). The male folks were processed by the Imam to be practicing muslims,
whereas, their wives knew nothing about Islam, nor had any access to studies in
Quran/ Hadiths/Islamic culture.
MEN REJECTED AMEEN FOUNDATION'S OFFER TO APPOINT AN AALIMA TO GUIDE THEIR WIVES
ON FAITH, WITH A PLEA THAT THEIR WIVES ARE BUSY LOOKING AFTER THE CHILDREN,
DOING JOBS AS UNSKILLED LABORERS TO SUPPLEMENT FAMILY'S INCOME AND
HELPING MEN IN THEIR PETTY BUSINESSES, HAVE NO TIME TO SPARE FOR LEARNING THE
FAITH. THEY HOWEVER, WERE
PERSUADED TO ACCEPT. THE AALIMA GUIDED THEM ON ALL MATTERS OF FAITH, AS A RESULT
ALL THE WOMEN OF THE VILLAGE ARE NOW PRAYING FIVE TIMES A DAY, FASTING IN
RAMADAN & ARE NOW PRACTICING MUSLIMS. MEN ARE NOW PROUD OF THEIR WIVES FOR DOING
WHAT THEY DID NOT DO EVEN ONCE SINCE THEY WERE MARRIED - remembering Allah.
3. Some villagers rise up from bed every morning speculating if they have in
store a meal or two for the day.
AN AID AS MEAGER AS $300 PER PERSON ENABLED THE UNEMPLOYED TO GENERATE INCOME
ENOUGH TO RUN HIS/HER FAMILY.
4. A family where house wife works as unskilled laborer earning a dollar a day
to run the family of six while the husband sits at home for want of investment
to start a petty business, having no access to financing from banks.
FINANCIAL AID OF $400 MADE THE MAN GO OUT OF HIS HOME TO START LIVING AS HE
SHOULD, PUTTING HIS CHILDREN BACK TO SCHOOL, STOP SENDING HIS ALREADY
DEBILITATED WIFE TO HARSH LABOR.
4. Youths took to petty jobs being unable to pursue college education for
economic reasons.
SPONSORSHIP BY AF TO CONTINUE EDUCATION, ENABLED MANY SUCH DROP OUTS TO PURSUE
THEIR EDUCATION IN THE FIELD OF ENGINEERING, MEDICAL & IT etc. THEIR FAMILIES
NOW ARE FINANCIALLY STABLE & SELF SUFFICIENT.
5. Single mothers (Divorcees) having hard time supporting 3-5 children with
wages of dollar a day not enough for sustenance & support children's education.
FINANCIAL AID IN TERMS OF SUPPLY OF GROCERIES, MEAT etc & MEETING THE EXPENSES
ON THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION BROUGHT SMILES TO THE FACES OF THE ORPHANS & THEIR
MOTHERS, BUILT HOPE THAT THERE IS GOING TO BE A PATHWAY UP FOR THEM IN THE
FUTURE TO EARN HIGHER WAGES THAT WOULD ULTIMATELY LIFT THEM OUT OF POVERTY.
6. Widows engaged in hard labor to provide for the children abstain from fasting
during Ramadan.
PROVISION OF GROCERIES ENOUGH FOR A MONTH FACILITATED THEM IN OBSERVANCE OF
FASTING IN ADDITION TO GIVING A BREAK OF 30 DAYS AFTER AN EXHAUSTING HARSH LABOR
OF ELEVEN MONTHS.
7. Children of the poor are forced to work as bonded laborers to keep up with
large family subsistence/ supplement family's income, it's virtually selling
them to pay back the loans the parents have borrowed, such children working for
many hours a day for several years depending on how big the loans are. Suffer
from deprivation of their right to education, physical & mental growth &
development.
FINANCIAL AID TO POVERTY STRICKEN FAMILIES HELPED THE PARENTS SENDING THEIR
CHILDREN BACK TO SCHOOL. EFFORTS ARE ON TO CREATE JOBS IN FARMING SECTOR ON
COOPERATIVE BASIS TO SUCH FAMILIES.
8. Socio - economic exploitation where the children abandon schools in favor of
child labor or to become child brides, depriving them of their right to
education.
FINANCIAL AID TO REHABILITATE THE VICTIMS OF EXPLOITATION IMPROVED THEIR LIVING
CONDITIONS AND BUILT HOPE FOR A BETTER FUTURE.
ABSTRACT
• Guidance in faith and prevention of sufferings in rural India are issues of
paramount importance.
• It's time to conserve and strengthen our culture through preaching &
stabilizing social norms of society in rural India where 70% of the Indian
populace lives.
• Leader is some body who can make people do what they don't want to. There is a
dire need to create leadership amongst youths for involvement in all the
faculties of life.
• It is time to empower the charities to help the poor, you need hundreds of
thousands of charities in a densely populated country like India. Call for
summits, workshops, seminars not only for dialogue but to lay out a bold print
on service to community. There is a need to engage tens of thousands of people
in hundreds of events all across the country to involve in service to community.
• It is time to fight Child Labor, Child marriages, other forms of Child abuse &
other social evils.
• It's time to channelize aid & reforms through mosques.
• Every child must be told you are born at a wrong place, wrong time and wrong
parents if you are not a literate. This generation is faced with tough issues,
they are aware of the challenges the world is facing, willing to engage in
something they terribly care about, there has to be a meaningful dialogue with
the youths who are the human capital of tomorrow, they should be allowed to move
on issues to let them move forward.
• We need to coordinate with Organizations, Corporations, Foundations, Officials
and Individuals to create an unified team that is far more effective than any
one of us could hope to be.

Our Mission
Millions of muslims
are yearning to be more involved in welfare activities. Need of the hour,
however, is for the leading personalities to call for summits, seminars and
workshops not only for dialogue but also action to plan and layout a bold blue
print on service to community. There is a need to engage tens of thousands of
muslims in hundreds of events across India & else where to start working
scrupulously. We live in the world that belongs to the enlightened minds.
Education, therefore, should be our top priority. All resources must be
pooled to promote education in its right perspective. Promotion of quality
education is no doubt a painstaking task requiring moral integrity of those
involved. Ameen Foundation has started a movement that is ready to do what
ever it takes to reach the goal. At Independence there existed 4000 Urdu
Schools in the state of Karnataka in India, 60 years in the post independence
era saw many schools started and many closed down, as of today the ultimate
number remains the same 4000. Urdu is a carrier of Islamic studies, its
revival is therefore vital for refreshment of Islamic culture. Higher
Secondary schools have stopped recruiting Urdu teachers; instead, make an
allowance of funds to the candidate to have private tuition for Urdu. This
practice, if continued can prove suicidal to Urdu and its cause. Ameen
Foundation in cooperation with Millath Foundation, therefore, plans to launch
about one thousand Schools state wide with Urdu as medium of instruction
during the academic year 2011-12.
We live in a world
where money is the measure of every thing. Poor man also needs money to care
for his children's education, health etc. Banks do not come to his rescue
for reasons of credit worthiness. Legislations of the Government for
protection & preservation of wild life, constructing settlements for the
tribesmen's stoppage of the exploitation of wild animals for livelihood are
highly commendable. Alternate jobs or financing for self employment for
immediate sustenance then becomes obligatory on the part of the Government.
Failure of the Government to meet this obligation led tribesmen falling prey
to predatory lending due to which much of what they earn today goes as
interest payable.
The documentary on village, shows what actually is happening on the ground as
a consequence. It provides the context and perspectives on one of the most
difficult issues of our time –
Poverty.
What you see there is a combination of emotional truth and insight into the
way life is lived by the under privileged on the village side.
Micro financing under the circumstances becomes a necessity. It is an
enormous task needing a lot of money but Ameen Foundation is planning to
implement it as soon as possible with an aim to give financial stability to
families.
Women are able to
and should meet at summits to discuss issues that confront families and should
be encouraged to contribute their might. Ameen Foundation whole
heartedly supports such an initiative.
About Ameen Foundation
Ameen Foundation was started in 2005 by Dr. Shah Abul Hussain to help needy
Muslims in rural areas in many facets. From helping Muslims reacquaint
themselves with Islam, feeding the ones that don't even have a single proper
meal, establishing 'true' Muslim communities, helping the poor start their own
source of income, education the kids and adults alike and building and
rebuilding of mosques.
Ameen Foundation is meant to be the means between the people that want to
help and translating it into actually ground work. There are plenty of
organizations that do this work but they are not able to effectively implement
their resources to all the villages. There are hundreds of thousands of
villages. Some might not even appear on any maps. Ameen Foundation starts of in
local areas around Bangalore and the by word of mouth keeps expanding to cover
more and more villages. Bringing help and deen (faith), closer and closer to people in
remote areas.
Ameen Foundation is completely run by volunteers. There is no income for
anyone that does the work, just Allah's blessing. Almost all the time, every
expense from gasoline to travel to the remote places to hiring of temporary
workers comes out of the pockets of the people on the ground. Alhamdulillah, we
are able to go on. If you donate, InshAllah the moneys will still be used to
affect change in these areas and these lives and any other expenses the
volunteers, personally, should be able to afford.
Ameen Foundation started of with the objective of helping the poor accomplish
education in deen and science. To promote Muslims from illiteracy to excellence
in both the deen (faith) and profession. Now, Alhamdulillah we have expanded to
providing food, helping them start their own businesses, building of mosques and
schools for Muslims and much much more. May Allah keep us able to continue the
good work - aameen.
